• American Airlines Flight 191

May 25th, 1979 was the darkest day in the aviation history of America. On that Friday, American Airlines Flight 191 operated by a McDonnell Douglas DC-10 (three-engine wide body airliner) crashed and all the 258 passengers, plus 13 crew members lost their lives.

• U.S. F/A-18 Hornet Fighter Jet

On December 8th 2008, the United States F/A-18 Hornet fighter jet crashed in a densely populated San Diego while preparing to land at a MCAS Miramar Marine base, destroying three houses and killing four people (two women and two young children) on the ground. However, the pilot Lt. Neubauer ejected safely, landing in a tree.

• Boeing 234LR Chinook helicopter

On 6th November 1986, Boeing 234LR Chinook helicopter G-BWFC crashed near the Sumburgh Airport in Shetland Islands into the ocean and sank. It is also known as Sumburgh Disaster that had taken the lives of 43 people and two crew members.

• Columbia Space Shuttle Disaster

On February 1, 2003, the Columbia Space Shuttle crashed while entering into the Earth’s atmosphere. It was the first shuttle lost on landing and the second Space Shuttle disaster. This disaster had taken the lives of all the seven astronauts.
