Babylonian Civilization

Enlil (Air God)Babylonia civilization existed in southern Mesopotamia, in the East, between Euphrates and Tigris Rivers, capturing approximately 8000 square miles. It was known for supremacy among its neighborhood, as the King of Babylonia destroyed Jerusalem, the capital of Judah Kingdom. Bible mentions Babylonian civilization way back from the Hammurapi time, which is 2000 BC, till the collapse of the Babylon near about 500 BC.

The Old Testament of Bible describes Babylonian culture, people, their military power and their religion. Babylonia was famous for its civilization, tradition, religion and culture. Babylonian civilization, celebrated their festivals at the centered temple, and their literature usually deviates toward their mythology and cultural legends. The earliest Mesopotamian inhabitants were Sumerians; hence Babylonians inherited Sumerian culture which had many Gods and temples located in each city. Around 2300 B.C., Sargon, one of the individuals of Sumerian City, gathered and ruled Babylonian civilization.

Babylonian Astronomy:

Mesopotamia was the origin of ancient western astronomy dating back to 1200 BCE, where Babylonians developed many astronomical methods and theories, which later were transformed in to the Greek, European, Islamic and Persian astronomy. Their astronomy reflected in their religion and their mythological legends; and they also associated their Gods with the planetary system. They enhanced their astronomical study during 7th and 8th century BCE, which was the key to the revolution in the ancient history of science. According to scientists, Babylonian philosophy in nature, botany, chemistry, medicine, mathematics and astronomy; were fundamentally decisive.

Babylonian Flying Mythology:

Babylonian mythology includes many epics and stories which mentions about various Gods, myths and flying objects. There prominent Gods include Marduk (creator of heaven and earth), Adad (God of storm), Ishtar (love and war God), Sin (Moon God), Shamash (Sun God), Enki (Sea God), Enlil (Air God) and Anu (God of Heaven). Babylonian literature describes glorifying legends and epics of their God Marduk. Among Babylonian epics, one of the epic describes about Babylonian flying object in the epic of Etna. Babylonian civilization reflects ancient flying record in the ‘Halkatha Law’, which states that flying was a gift of God for saving one’s life; and they required great privilege to operate that flying machine and fly with it. The epic of Etna dates back to 3000 B.C., which also describes the prehistoric flying machine which was reserved for humans.
